This is a truly ground-breaking, interactive project we're running at Disability Cornwall. We want to map out the whole county, to show disabled people – locals and visitors, the places that are fully accessible.

This is a very simple idea. It is based on the idea that the people who really know about access are disabled people. For example - wheelchair users know which places are accessible for wheelchair users. Deaf people know places that are friendly and welcoming for Deaf people. People with learning difficulties know where they feel welcome etc.

Simple!

There are 2 ways to use this part of our site –

1. You can just go and have a look at the database, and search for places you'd like to go to. You might fancy going out for a meal, for a drink with some friends, for a country walk, or to see some theatre. Every place is searchable in a number of ways. For example you could search for –

• 'Pubs', 'restaurants', or some other category
• A town, or place you want to go to; or
•  Accessibility – e.g. 'wheelchair access', etc.

AND

2. You can use the box below to register, login, and we will authorise you as a user so you can start uploading the details of your favourite places, which you know are accessible for you. Tell us about the places you go with your friends and family. Tell us about which places are accessible for you. Tell us about the places where the staff are friendly and welcoming.

It really is that simple, and yet could be so ground-breaking! Imagine if we had good, reliable, information written by local disabled people about the places they know and trust. We'd be able to visit new places in the county with confidence, safe in the knowledge that when we get to wherever we're going we'll be able to get in!
