The first 400 metres of the route are on level tarmac surface,which then changes to a rougher surface for the next 600 metres.At the entrance to the main parkland, the surface changes back again to tarmac through the park itself.

The Penrose Estate and Loe Pool is one of Cornwall's glorious surprises. Owned and managed by the National Trust since 1974, the estate and largest natural freshwater lake in the county is tucked between Helston and Porthleven.
